Scary guy to be in charge right now!

The military excessiveness over South Ossetia is typical of many other wiggly can of worms in other areas of our shared habitat.

First, I would like to say that Georgia (and whoever else) were the instigators of this conflict. Russia appears to be operating in the best interest of the South Ossetia civilians, however like all strong arm powers they go overboard and shock and awe those who they view as the aggressors, regardless of civilian casualties, in order to intimidate.

Here's a group of people just wanting to be left to their own self-determination caught up in the middle of a super-power struggle bringing on another escalation in the Cold War.

Don't think for a moment that nukes aren't hanging over our heads again and vise-versa. I wonder if the Dooms day clock will be advanced.

Well, it appears the Russian Bear may be deciding to run it's way through all of Georgia. It's not anymore right than what we did in Iraq. If these conflicting reports are true they must stop and return to their own borders.

People do have, however they vision it, a responsibility for themselves, family, community, country and God, as they see God, but for a variety of reasons both legitimate and illegitimate within ones control and outside of it, these responsibilities may become compromised. The conservative Republican mantra of ‘individual responsibility’ is designed to absolve oneself of any responsibility except for those so conveniently cherry-picked while easily lowering the dignity and humanity of those in need.

Individual responsibility means everyone else’s responsibility but mine. It’s an ideological principal embraced by modern conservatives that is designed to protect the conscience of the individual or group from social or religious liability. It’s used to absolve one from long held Judeo-Christian principles such as ‘by the grace of God go I’ and ‘to those who have been given much, much is expected’. It implies that the gifts from God which we all possess in one form or another have been distributed in equal measure with similar qualities. It’s been used as an excuse from responsibility from everything from the homeless addict to the poor and those with mental and physical illnesses, to such extremes as victims of natural disaster.

I remember hearing of a painting where Jesus was depicted as a junky. I never saw the painting and I don’t care to or need to because I’ve embellished on it in my mind. I picture a Christ-like figure in a urine soaked alley with empty liquor bottles and needles nearby. I consider it a holy image. Why? Because I think we should insult Christ or say He’s something He’s not? No! It reminds me that we are supposed to see the suffering Christ in the most lowly of individuals. That Jesus is served best when we show love, mercy, and caring for all those in society especially those who, for whatever reason, are most looked down on or deemed unacceptable.

hanging in there--kinda sorta

I suppose I should say why I haven't been here very much.

Part of the reason is in the backyard; that being my organic garden. I've been gardening for years and I'm not about to let MS stop me now. I wish I had pictures but I don't. I work for 5 to 10 minutes then I rest for a while. I've been able to build quite a nice garden working that way plus some help from my youngest son. I've down-sized it quite a bit. My gardens used to be much larger, but most people would think what I have now is huge.

The other reason is our puppy dog. (

Newest Member!!!) He's coming along very well. He's fit into the family and our lifestyle well. He's intelligent and picks up new things quickly, but you would expect that with the breed. We walk him every morning with our electric Pronto wheelchairs. We bought a 20 foot lead and give him plenty of room to roam and sniff when we get on these rocky undeveloped roadways we have so many of up here on the South Hill. We draw many smiles from those who see this odd little parade.

The other reason is MS. I've been having a flare-up of something that started a couple of years ago. Buzzing in my feet and hands and lower face which puts my brain into a distracted slow mode. When it really gets going my ears pop and my vision jerks, fortunately I've had a minimum of popping and no vision problems this time around. There's also this thing that happens kind of electric in my hands and feet that is almost pain but not quite. My MS specialist started talking about these kind of symptoms and mentioned electric worms crawling under the skin. It was kind of a Charlie Brown moment, "That's it!". Anyway I've been given a new med for that problem and provigil for energy. I'm on the second day of taking them so will see how it goes. I may have to get used to it like I have with my tremors which I've had for some 20 plus years.

I want to do a better job of getting on here more. I know I have only a few readers that pop in now and then(I wouldn't be surprised if some are from alphabet agencies spying on all liberal blogs no matter how small) but this is mostly for my benefit with hopes that my children will someday read it and know where their dad stood and why, during these troubling times.
