Dennis Kucinich on impeachment talks

Impeachment Summer!!!

There is a long list of administration crimes against the people of the United States. If this president and his vice president have not committed crimes of high enough level to warrant impeachment is it possible for impeachment to ever be used except for an occasion of sexual misconduct?

Bushies made Al Qaeda stronger!!!

The ball got rolling, on the horror which is modern Iraq, the moment the first bombs of ‘shock and awe’ were dropped. It was a failure from the beginning. All the millions who were against this war knew these events would happen and they were ignored and called un-American traitors. They continue to be right while the administration and their neoconservative cohorts continue to be disastrously wrong.

Iraq is a drain on our resources, both military and financial. That is what Al Qaeda finds joy in. The Bushies played directly into their hands when the war on terror was stolen for Neocon goals in Iraq. As a consequence Al Qaeda has grown in strength, membership, and territory. This is what has left our national interests vulnerable both at home and abroad.

This is just one of the many reasons for impeaching Bush/Cheney.

Moyers - Buying the War

Bill Moyers is back with a program about how the press let the American people down on the build-up to war with Iraq.
Absolutely must visit site.

Remember Al Qaeda?

Every morning on CSPAN the continuing mantra of ‘we have to fight them there so we don’t have to fight them here’ is constantly echoed.
Just exactly who do they believe ‘them’ to be? They would respond, “The enemy”. Which would beg the question, “Who is the enemy?” At this point the adherents of anything Bush get off-beat strange.

From the most ignorant and frightening ‘the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim crowd’ you would get an answer of Arab or Muslim because 'they hate our way of life and freedom'. From another group just as ignorant but a little less hateful you would get an essentially correct response of terrorists although many of these people would fit nicely into the previous group.

In the case of Iraq a response of terrorism means all the people fighting placed under one umbrella. Sadly terror is a tactical choice employed by all the varying factions but there seems to be a complete disconnect when it comes to understanding the varying factions and their motivations.
Al Qaeda is responsible for their share of the violence but it’s a relatively small percentage of the overall violence. The great enemy in Iraq is the power lust of the few (Kurd, Sunni, Shiite and the battles within each of those varying factions), along with the hate driven desire for revenge carrying fear and ignorance as its allies. So many people are suffering an incredibly insidious hell of a tortuous death. It’s shocking how exceedingly cruel people can be once they see the others as less than human. The hate that exists is growing even stronger in an environment where fear and revenge has become the master.

All sides want us out; they believe its okay to kill our men and women and they are all going after us with great relish. Our troops are stuck in the middle of a brutal civil war where all sides are shooting at them and the enemy can not be easily discerned, if at all. They do not belong in the middle of this and it’s a illicit misuse of the military to expect them to.

War crimes were committed. Bush policies of rendition, torture, indiscriminate use of weapons improper among civilian populations, seriously overused troops in a deadly supercharged environment, profiteering, and negligent planning wrapped up in a refusal to admit any mistakes have made Bush Neoconservative’s opponents of peace toward the US and Iraq and the people of the region if the instability spreads. Those in charge are to blame for this mess because they’re the ones that put the horror in motion. Neocon policies have become the best recruiting tools for Al Qaeda and like-minded groups. Money has been wasted, misused and stolen causing us to rely on China and other nations to finance our illegitimate occupation while keeping the lifestyles of the powerful undisturbed. They’ve left the brunt of domestic sacrifice for this war of lies to be carried by the military families with little support from the Republican chicken hawks who so frequently love to envelop themselves with flags, yellow ribbons and military paraphernalia.

They also screwed the Afghanistan people and our troops who were fighting the terrorists who really did attack our country on 9/11 by running away from the ‘war on terror’ hijacking it for neoconservative desires. The Taliban is regaining strength in Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden is still free and in charge of Al Qaeda which is gaining strength and free reign in western Pakistan and throughout northern and western Africa. We know this because of good quality intelligence, excellent police work and investigative journalism but we can’t do anything to curtail their growth because we are bogged down in Iraq while seriously running down the morale and readiness of our military.

Our continuing occupation of Iraq is harming us while allowing Al Qaeda to grow in organization, strength and territory to be able to set up training camps along with a platform to attack us.If our presence in Iraq is futile or more destructive to them and us than our absence then we must leave.

can’t let Rove out without a collar and leash

Ok, they’ve let the dark creepy side of Bush’s’ brain out twice recently. Like Frankenstein’s Monster he would have done alright if he stuck around the castle. But Noooooooo! They had to let him out in the general public, not just once, but twice. Looks like the nation will have to find a good set of bars to contain him in order to keep the nation safe.

Karl Rove Gets Thrown Under the Stop Global Warming Bus

Last night Thelma and Louise drove the bus off the cliff or at least into the White House Correspondents Dinner. The "highlight" of the evening had to be when we were introduced to Karl Rove. How excited were we to have our first opportunity ever to talk directly to the Bush Administration about global warming.

Impeachment is necessary!!!

Another Earth Day held under hostage.

It doesn’t matter what your issue of importance is; to humanity or the environment it is not going anywhere under the neoconservative regime. Earth Day must be about resting political control from the right wing. The nation did well in ’06 but it must do much better in ’08 not only with the presidency but also with the Senate.

Impeachment is a necessary exercise for our democratic republic at this time. Whether the Republicans in the Senate want to support our nation or not should bare no consequence on the House doing the right thing. It is imperative for our representatives in the People’s House to support the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. To do nothing would be, by Congressional silence, an affirmation of the presidents’ position on all the wrong doing he and his administration have conspired against the laws and values of our nation. The president and the Republican congresses he possessed will go down in history as the worst ever. The Democrats will follow suit if by their inaction they go down as affirming, for future presidents, administrative branch excesses.

All these unconstitutional acts which amount to an attack on our cherished system of government are being done in the name of the Republican Party especially among the conservative wing. You good Republicans need to develop the courage to see the truth because these monsters are destroying you from within and along with you they’re dragging the whole nation into disgrace. These are not your fathers Republicans they’re essentially fascists and devastation is their mistress.

There is a long list of administration crimes against the people of the United States. If this president and his vice president have not committed crimes of high enough level to warrant impeachment is it possible for impeachment to ever be used except for an occasion of sexual misconduct?

The illness gets in the way of posting. It interferes with the working of my poor little brain, hence the title of my Blog. Still struggling a bit but the fog seems to be slowly lifting now although it still doesn’t take much to get very confused and shut down. MS sucks.

A lot happened this week mostly sad. VT was all sad. Horrific negligence by the school leadership and the mental health professionals contributed greatly to this. Instant background checks are worthless without those suffering from severe mental illness being included. There should be a cooling off period on all guns but most importantly for handguns. The mentally ill are far more dangerous to themselves than to others but most are a danger to no one. In this era of keeping ourselves safe at all costs I worry about an extreme overreaction to the mentally ill; hurting rather than helping.

Mass shootings have become a strangely popular way for some individuals to go about that business of suicide. The corporate media has helped the glamorization of the shooter in the past but this time they all went way overboard. It’s irresponsibly dangerous but I guess they made a few more bucks off the thing. It’s not just the media but our government, especially the president and his misguided party, has set an example that problems are solved by the gun not by talking with those with whom you have a grievance. If you view them as evil kill them. Blow ‘em up real good.

Today is 4/20. We kept our son home today along with many other parents. 4/20 has some bad connotations with it; it has something to do with a police code for marijuana arrest; Hitler’s birthday and the anniversary of Columbine. It seems to have become a celebratory day among many Goth students and drug abusers and others. It’s just not a good day to have your kid in school especially after the events in Virginia Tech earlier this week. It’s all just too weird.

I would also like to add that the events that shook the nation to its core on Monday are an everyday event in Iraq. What kind of nightmares haunt these children not only in Iraq but in places like Darfur the Congo and so many others. We all can and must do better to address the causes of violence throughout the world. Stopping the gun trade both legal and illegal would be one good starting point but also researching and reporting on why this trade is so often the focal point of the way governments and multinational corporations seek to solve their problems.

Dissent is as American as Mom & Apple Pie.

I am veteran of the Air Force and I fully understand that the military is essential in guarding the borders of a country and in rare circumstances its overseas commitments and interests but it is not the sole reason for freedom and democracy. One of the many misguided beliefs of the conservative right is that whenever there is a protest against any military adventurism it is only by virtue of a strong military that allows it to exist.

I suppose an example would be during the time of Noriega and Panama many people would bring up the ‘Hitler comparison’ and that if we didn’t stop him now he would come up here and take all our freedom away. So, you shouldn’t be so ungrateful as to protest against war because their saving you from being taken over from this horrible man who will take your freedom of speech from you. This represents a far too often used circle of fear based ignorance that’s difficult to break through. It’s been used many times since with the current holder being Ahmadinejad, the relatively low powered president of Iran whose greatest gift and liability are the word bombs he throws out so profusely. Like the previous holder of this dubious honor before him he fails to realize his boisterous attempts to draw support from his base plays into the hands of those who would wish to destroy his nation.

Our Bill of Rights was placed on a pinnacle of honor by our fore fathers and continues by the choice of all the following generations who have equally cherished it to keep it there. Freedom flows from the hearts of the people and is dependent on the amount of love of freedom dwelling there and their courage to keep it or obtain it. If love for freedom is only for ones own close-knit cultural identity or financial security then freedom is less. If on the other hand love for freedom is extended to other cultures freedom is more expansive. If fear, hate and greed enter the picture then freedom is subjugated to that adoration.

Many countries have had strong militaries either relevant to the world or their own citizens and have no freedom of speech or assembly. Any challenge to established power is a tortuous prison sentence or worse, possibly much worse.

I often hear neoconservatives speak of reviving anti sedition laws. It seems they don’t just want to discourage criticism of the Iraq occupation or other military campaigns but to link all public disapproval of the President or his administration to giving aid and comfort to the enemy. This would be a great restriction on freedom. Remember when the old Soviet Union had a powerful army but no freedom. When a love for freedom became manifest among the population it came into being despite the strength of the military loving politicians trying to hold it back.Dissent is a stalwart guardian of freedom and in every country where it is allowed to flourish, while government may be a bit more chaotic, freedom is great.

Freedom does not exist without Dissent.

Sam Seder is Air America

I always enjoyed talk radio. I think it started with open lines on a top 40 station, KXOK, on Sunday nights and slowly became more engrained thanks to Jim White at night on KMOX. It is a strong station that gave us the ability, after we moved south, to pick up Cardinal Baseball all the way down to our Biloxi backyard at night.

I always liked talk radio. The wide variety of opinions and topics caused me to be more critical of my own political, religious and social beliefs. For me it demonstrated a need to justify my beliefs by something more than a strong affirmation. While living down there I’m certain I most probably listened to Rush’s first show our at least within the first week.

He was somewhat humorous. It was interesting hearing the thinking from that dark, chilling side of the fence but there was balance. He was followed by a proper speaking well rounded liberal individual by the name of Michael Jackson.

Over the years all the well rounded individuals of a variety of opinions gradually disappeared to be replaced by an electromagnetic sea of lock stepping voices of a single ideology; repetitive, repetitive, repetitive.

The more bellicose are there to push the envelope, to bring the ‘base’ in an ever more dangerous direction. Constantly pushing them toward a cliff of capitulation they will never be able to back away from. Justification of beliefs now lies in an enthusiastic parroting of a selection of politically, economically and religiously acceptable conservative instilled truths; a right wing catechism teaching the foundations of a new fascism. They even gluttonously gobbled up most local talk.

Be Hope
Here in Spokane I was fortunate enough to discover the oasis of Bernie Ward and Ray Taliaferro on KGO in San Francisco at night.

Then entered Air America and all that finally having all day real liberal talk radio would bring. But now it seems it may be endangered by itself.

My email to Air America mismanagement.

I think it is interesting that there are no comments allowed on Mr. Green's statement to all of us yesterday.

Maybe you don't realize the amount of energy and loyalty Sam has showed this station over the years. Many times Air America was 'Sam Seder all the time' radio. He was always there for this concept of what Air America once was. Stabbing a loyal person in the back is always upsetting and it's always wrong.

Sam is not the only one being screwed we the loyal listeners are also being treated horribly. Many of us have been there from the beginning; some have gone so far as to support this station financially. None of us are being considered in this decision. As if all our years of loyalty don't matter.

We have watched the origanal daily hosts all slowly disappear. We were all very excited to hear all these voices say, over the air, things we have expressed ourselves or held deeply within our hearts. We all shared in our own way the ups and downs not only of the station but also of each individual personality we have all come to know.We have watched the inexperienced grow in both talent and knowledge.

We feel betrayed.

We watched Mark and Mike forced out. Chuck banished to a weekend end spot and Mark suffering a similar fate by being given only one hour in the wee morning hours; both being forced to the back of the bus. We're now left with only three, Mark, Randi and Racheal who we are all very worried about after your recent callous actions. This has also left us concerned about the weekend people Chuck, Mike and Bobby and Laura.

There's a lot more going on here than just a simple concern over listening to some show we may have grown accustomed to listening to. A lot more. You have failed to recognize that. We all welcomed you here and now we're feeling sorry, let down and deeply disappointed.

Political correctness

Political correctness is more a comical myth among liberals than truth and where it does exists its about showing respect to those different than us.
But, it’s become a frightening reality among the growingly fascist right. It began as a reaction to the growing political strength of the civil rights movement in America. There was resistance in tolerance challenged - America when words such as ‘the N word’, colored and others of a demeaning nature became unacceptable. The term political correctness is an extreme reaction to the polite term of African American. This rising up of a great people exclaiming that they were in fact African and proud and that they were American and proud caught the ire of the conservatives and their ever growing population of ‘ditto heads’ leading them to belittle these people and others who also sought to show pride in their heritage. This was the root of the comical extrapolations of what was referred to as political correctness. Multiculturalism, our diversity, became a threat, as though we shouldn’t be proud of the broad melting pot that is our country. The deviants in the dark bowels of the Republican Party along with their media propagandists then decided to connect this notion of political correctness to issues of importance to the American people in order to belittle them also.
True political correctness exist within the ‘you’re either with us or against us’ right wing of the conservative end of the Republican Party. Qualifications matter little to this group compared to strict party loyalty down to accepting every single party principle of the moment. It is not possible to say something is, for example, truly blue when party loyalty demands it to be red.
Just a few of the many examples…

Al Qaeda was in Iraq.
Iraq had weapons of mass destruction
Iraq was a danger to the U.S.
Iraq would cause mushrooms clouds to be on our shores
Iraq snuck out all its weapons

Iraq war quotes

A few quotes we shouldn’t forget.
Saddam Hussein's offensive military capability, his capacity to threaten his neighbors, has been virtually eliminated.
Dick Cheney Secretary of Defense - April 29, 1991
"If we don't stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road."
Gov. George W. Bush - October 3, 2000
"The sanctions exist -- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction ... And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq ... "
Secretary of State Colin Powell - 2001 February 24, 2001
"But in terms of Saddam Hussein being there, let's remember that his country is divided, in effect. He does not control the northern part of his country. We are able to keep arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt."
National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice - July 29, 2001
Do not obey any command to use weapons of mass destruction against anyone, including the Iraqi people. War crimes will be prosecuted. War criminals will be punished. And it will be no defense to say, "I was just following orders."
President George W. Bush - March 17, 2003
Those who follow orders to commit such crimes will be found and they will be punished. War crimes will be prosecuted. And it will be no excuse to say, 'I was just following orders.' Any official involved in such crimes will forfeit hope of amnesty or leniency with respect to past action.
Donald Rumsfeld - Secretary of Defense - March 20, 2003
"The United States is committed to the worldwide elimination of torture and we are leading this fight by example."
George W. Bush - June 26, 2003
Freedom from torture is an inalienable human right, and we are committed to building a world where human rights are respected and protected by the rule of law…Throughout the world, there are many who have been seeking to have their voices heard, to stand up for their right to freedom, and to break the chains of tyranny. Too many of those courageous women and men are paying a terrible price for their brave acts of dissent. Many have been detained, arrested, thrown in prison, and subjected to torture by regimes that fail to understand that their habits of control will not serve them well in the long-term.
President George W. Bush June 26, 2005
Saddam Hussein's regime is despicable, he is developing weapons of mass destruction, and we cannot leave him doing so unchecked... He is a threat to his own people and to the region and, if allowed to develop these weapons, a threat to us also."
Prime Minister Tony Blair - 10 April 2002
Iraq has weapons of mass destruction, Saddam has continued to produce them, he has existing and active military plans for the use of chemical and biological weapons, which could be deployed within 45 minutes.
Prime Minister Tony Blair - 2002 Sept 24
If we don't act now, then we will go back to what has happened before and then of course the whole thing begins again and he carries on developing these weapons and these are dangerous weapons, particularly if they fall into the hands of terrorists who we know want to use these weapons if they can get them.
Prime Minister Tony Blair - 11 March 2003
I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators.
Vice President Dick Cheney, On March 16 2003
I picked up a newspaper today and I couldn't believe it. I read eight headlines that talked about chaos, violence, unrest. And it just was Henny Penny -- "The sky is falling." I've never seen anything like it! And here is a country that's being liberated, here are people who are going from being repressed and held under the thumb of a vicious dictator, and they're free. And all this newspaper could do, with eight or 10 headlines, they showed a man bleeding, a civilian, who they claimed we had shot -- one thing after another.
Donald Rumsfeld - Secretary of Defense - April 11, 2003"
Oh, indeed there is a tie between Iraq and what happened on 9/11. It’s not that Saddam Hussein was somehow himself and his regime involved in 9/11, but, if you think about what caused 9/11, it is the rise of ideologies of hatred that lead people to drive airplanes into buildings in New York."
Condoleezza Rice November 28, 2003
The 9-11 Commission Report
See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.
President George W. Bush - May 24, 2005
Everything these guys said was wrong at best but most commonly were lies mixed with distortions. The people against this war were right in their characterization of what the outcome would be. They were ignored and called traitors and cowards when they should have been listened to. Listen to them now when they speak against current and future military misadventures (Iran) because their voices carry more truth than the voices of the egocentric chicken hawks in the Bush administration.
War is not a game.

Jail the Illegal Aliens

I found this poster. It's a 1924 KKK poster against Chinese immigration. Sounds kinda familiar! I think this speaks volumes all by itself.

The most extreme conservative opinion is to arrest them all and ship them south. Massive roundups of those that are ‘unacceptable’ have never worked well for those being arrested or for the country involved. We have recent horror stories from Cambodia and Nazi Germany and ourselves with the Japanese internment and the Trail of Tears both of which were a disgrace. Tearing apart families on our ‘liberty loving’ soil from south of our border would be comparatively disastrous.

These people our not from the far flung reaches of the world, they are our neighbors who share history with us. They are a part of who we are. Their poverty and status has been used against them for the benefit of unprincipled business interests for many generations now. It is immoral to use people then throw them away when they become inconvenient. Christian (isn't that the kind of country the religious right repeatedly say we have) kindness would dictate care and forgiveness for these people.
We need to protect the border as Democrats have been screaming about since 9-11 only to fall upon deaf administration ears.
Bring them into citizen ship in a manner that's just.

We need to have strict consistent punishment for all those who hire these people with the intent of misusing them for their own benefit. Strong penalties need to be given for all those who pay substandard wages.
Any corporation that moves south of the border must pay livable wages and conform to rational environmental controls or risk losing the ability to trade with the United States.

Any other solution based or cloaked on hate and paranoia is unacceptable.

To the Red 25 - 30 percent

It seems your reluctance to “stand up” for freedom and righteousness within your own country and its policies is based on fear.
The fear is understandable; to willing stand up against power, when all you want is security. As long as you can have your lifestyle and be comfortable in your homes and feel nice and safe until you die you’re willing to have ‘Big Brother’ take care of you from ‘cradle to grave’. ‘From cradle to grave’ your willing to sell out your children’s and grandchildren’s future liberty, national assets and climate in order ‘to keep things just the way they are’, to feel secure in your finances and lifestyle.
You’re willing to give up freely what others, who came before you worked, suffered and died for. Why, because you’re afraid of the boogie man from the Middle East who has the strange religion and frightening ways. You’re willing to throw it all away because of fear mixed with a healthy dose of ignorance and a smattering of hate. No amount of evidence can convince you seriously misguided adherents of anything Bush that you are willing victims of propaganda and lies.
You don’t realize you have foolishly surrendered your loyalty to a man. You’re too blind to see you are denying your faithfulness to what you so proudly proclaim as God and country. You are swept up by the passion of conflict and follow along aimlessly, duped into following because of your own voluntary ignorance and fear of going against what seems popular with your peers causing you to halt any questions you may have floating around in your conscience.
Fear of the legitimate threat of terrorism is allowing you to be weak on protecting our most cherished gifts we possess as Americans; our freedoms as set forth in our constitution and its amendments. You’re allowing yourselves to be taken advantage of by those who would desire to see your freedoms lessened for their own lustful purposes.

Woe to those whose spirit compels them to speak against the flood of popular vengeance. The desire to strike back against a foe is so strong anyone trying to quell the rising tsunami of violence is flooded with anger, revulsion and distrust. The courage it takes to express legitimate descent is ignored as is their deep felt loyalty and patriotism. Throughout history their lot has been plagued with torture, exile and death.
Everyone who interferes is perceived as being less than loyal and you’re willing to destroy them to keep yourselves feeling safe and secure. You call yourselves good and them bad. You use your abundance of possessions comfortable lifestyle versus their lack of anything, in the third world, as proof that you are most beloved by God; proof that you are doing everything God’s way; proof that God is on your side.

Treating troops poorly is not supporting them.
You’re asking a small group of others to bare the burden of making you feel safe and secure. Your only contribution is to feign support by flying the flag in front of your home or placing the yellow ribbon on your car. When I see it there I wonder what's truly in your head and whether you are only flying it because you have been possessed by extreme right wing nonsense willingly voiding your brain of any idea of what the flag really stands for. Our fathers and grandfathers fought under this flag in WWII defeating fascism in Europe. They were truly supported by sacrifices from everyone at home; industry included.
This same flag is now being dirtied because it is being used as a banner for creeping fascism in our own country. They do not embrace Hitler’s, Mussolini’s, Franco’s, or anyone else’s version of fascism. They are playing with their own Neoconservative version. Future historians and political scientist may develop a better name but, for us, for now, fascism is accurate enough. It has been disaster in every country it has existed in and ours would be no exception. You people who have welcomed this filthy ideology have disgraced our flag, our forefather’s sacrifices and the very dust of their bones.
You good Republicans need to develop the courage to see the truth because these monsters are destroying you from within and along with you they’re dragging the whole nation into disgrace. These are not your fathers Republicans they’re essentially fascists and devastation is their mistress.
If you love your country, 'Speak truth to power!'
